How to Plan an Unforgettable Scottish Wedding
Liza German · 2 July 2026
From dramatic Highland backdrops to intimate city ceremonies, here is my guide to planning a wedding day in Scotland that feels entirely yours.
Scotland is one of the most romantic places in the world to marry. Ancient castles, misty glens, wild coastlines and historic city closes offer a backdrop for every kind of love story.
Choose a location that feels like you
Whether it is a grand estate in Aberdeenshire, a walled garden, or a quiet registry office followed by a countryside portrait session, the best weddings reflect the couple at their heart. Think about the light, the season and the atmosphere you want to remember.
Build a relaxed timeline
The most beautiful, natural photographs happen when you are not rushing. I always recommend a little breathing room between the ceremony, portraits and reception so we can chase the best light and simply enjoy the day.
Trust your team
Surround yourself with people who care. A calm, kind supplier team makes an enormous difference to how the day feels — and how it looks in your gallery afterwards.
If you are dreaming of a Scottish wedding, I would love to hear all about it.
